The short version
Arch City Streets keeps what it records on your phone. There is no account to create, no server that receives your rides, and no analytics, advertising or tracking in the app. Hyfidelity LLC does not receive your location, your rides or your Health data.
What the app uses, and why
- Location. While a ride is recording — from the moment you tap Start until the ride ends — the app uses your location, including in the background, to work out which streets you rode. It does not use your location at any other time. Your rides are stored on your phone.
- Apple Health. If you allow it, the app reads cycling workouts and their routes from Health, so a ride recorded on an Apple Watch can be imported and so the app can tell when a Watch workout has ended. When you choose to save a ride to Health, the app writes it there as a cycling workout. Health data stays on your phone and in the Health app. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone.
- Notifications. The app shows notifications it creates on your phone: one asks whether you are still riding after ten minutes without movement, and another tells you when a ride ended along with your Watch workout. No notification service or server is involved.
- Maps. Maps are displayed with Apple Maps. Apple's handling of map requests is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
- Street data. The streets the app measures come from OpenStreetMap and are built into the app, so working out your coverage needs no network connection.
What you choose to share
- Exports. Images, GPX files and other exports are made only when you ask for them, and go only where you send them.
- Diagnostics. If the app crashes or hangs, iOS gives it a report, which the app keeps on your phone. A debug log of each ride is kept the same way. Neither leaves your phone unless you share it from Settings.
- Crash reports through Apple. If you have turned on Share with App Developers in your iPhone's analytics settings, or you are testing the app through TestFlight, Apple may send crash reports to the developer. That is Apple's process, governed by Apple's privacy policy and your own settings.
What the app does not do
It has no sign-in and no profile. It runs no analytics or advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites. It does not sell or share your personal information, because it never receives any.
Deleting your data
You can delete any ride from the app's History. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. Rides you saved to Apple Health stay in Health, where you can delete them yourself.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its fonts and images are served from the site itself, so reading it sends nothing to anyone else.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
